Goals

This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about the surname McCraw and its variants. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

yDNA evidence shows that McCraw, McGraw, McCraith, McGrath are the same genetic family.

Task List

Let's link all profiles descended from the earliest known "McCraw" immigrant to North American, William McCraw, and transfer the exhaustive research of Carol McCraw, published in her book, "It's McCraw, Not McGraw", into WikiTree. Adding the Ahentafel coding used by Carol to each profile will help keep the lines straight as many names are repeated through the generations. The code may be added to the suffix or in the link to this free-space project or both.

Here are some of the tasks to complete:

  1. Search for McCraw profiles on WikiTree and use Carol's book to link them back to William.
  2. Add the Ahentafel code and link to this Free-Space Project to each profile.
  3. Source/Cite each profile with the data from Carol's book.
  4. Create profiles for additional descendants not already in WikiTree.

The "McCraw, not McGraw" book is potentially available on Family Search. It doesn't seem to be working today, but has in the past. https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/302483 .
